I have primarily been working towards breeding suri, my first purchases were all huacaya and over the years I firmed with my direction and suri is my passion. I would recommend to anyone looking at purchasing alpaca to do your home work before buying. Decide the direction you want to travel - it may be grey suri or brown huacaya or just coloured suri. Whatever it be your alpaca experience should be fantastic.
Visit a few shows, talk to a few breeders at these shows and even consider attending a few field days. Check out if your region is running a new breeders seminar and sometimes buying local will be very beneficial to you for support.
Remember to look at your budget and keep your eyes wide open. Good luck with your breeding.
